Healthcare and Social Welfare in Southern Lebanon
The Imam Sadr Foundation established its socio-medical centers in 1985, and today, eight such centers are operating across the governorates of Nabatiyeh and Southern Lebanon. These centers are located in Siddikin, Chehabiyeh, Derdghaiya, Ankoun, Kfarhatta, Ayta Chaab, Deir Seryan, and Tyre. In addition, two mobile medical clinics travel to villages that lack basic healthcare services.
The centers provide comprehensive healthcare services, both preventive and curative, serving over 75,000 people annually. They deliver around 152,000 services each year, including mental health and psychosocial support. In July 2024, the centers began offering palliative care services in collaboration with “Sanad”, an organization responsible for training, supervising, and sharing administrative and clinical protocols. This initiative is supported by the Norwegian Aid Committee (NORWAC).
Here is a list of the centers, along with their establishment dates, locations, key programs, and health services, as well as the major milestones they have experienced:
Established in 1985, this dispensary is located within the cultural compound at the main headquarters of the Imam Sadr Foundation in Tyre, South Lebanon. It is the first healthcare program established to provide comprehensive health services to orphaned girls and those from disadvantaged backgrounds at Rihab Zahraa High School, ensuring their health and well-being. The dispensary offers both preventive and curative services, ranging from primary care to diagnosis and treatment, as well as hospitalization when necessary.
